Brazilian mining company Vale said on Monday, November 29 that after several production shutdowns and overhauls in 2021, the company has lowered its guidance for copper production in the next few years.
Vale now expects the guideline output of copper in 2022 to be 3.3-355 million tons, which will increase to 390-42 million tons per year (tons/year) from 2023 to 2026, and exceed 450,000 tons after 2027. The guideline output of 295,000 to 300,000 tons of copper in 2021 will remain unchanged.
In December 2020, Vale set a guideline for copper production of 455,000 tons (tons/year) during 2022-2024, reaching 500,000 tons by 2025.
