IPETC, A Collector With Strong Collecting Power For Sulfide Ores Of Non-ferrous Metals

IPETC (Isopropyl Ethyl Thionocarbamate) is a high-performance, copper-selective collector primarily used in the flotation of non-ferrous sulfide ores. It delivers strong collecting power and excellent selectivity, making it a preferred reagent for complex mineral processing operations.

IPETC exhibits strong collecting power for copper minerals such as chalcopyrite while showing weaker affinity for pyrite. It is frequently employed in copper-sulfur separation, enabling the attainment of high-grade copper concentrates under alkaline conditions.

Research indicates that IPETC effectively imparts hydrophobicity to both chalcopyrite and galena. When used in conjunction with modifiers such as hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂), it facilitates the flotation separation of copper-lead sulfide ores.

Studies have explored its use in the selective recovery of elemental sulfur from high-sulfur residues, demonstrating superior selectivity and collecting power compared to traditional reagents like ethyl xanthate. While IPETC is effective as a collector for pentlandite (nickel-bearing sulfide), its use alone can lead to excessive froth entrainment, which may negatively impact concentrate grade; therefore, it is often more effective when combined with xanthates.
